What
causes facial veins?
Not all the causes for facial veins are known, but they appear
to be secondary to heredity, sun exposure or related to a condition
known as adult acne rosacea.
How are facial veins treated?
At Dermatology Specialists, Inc., small- and medium-size veins
are often treated with the Iriderm Diode Laser.
How does the vascular laser work?
The Iriderm Diode Laser produces an intense light which is absorbed
by the red color of the blood vessel. This intensely bright
light destroys the vessel while only minimally effecting the
surrounding skin.
How many treatments will I need to eliminate my broken
blood vessels?
Each patient is different, therefore several treatments may
be needed to sufficiently reduce the redness.
Is there pain with the vascular laser?
Patients describe the sensation as tiny pin pricks which can
be reduced to a relatively comfortable level with topical anesthesia.
After the treatment, pain is minimal or nonexistent.
What will I look like when the procedure is over?
Immediately following the laser treatment, the area will be
somewhat red. Over the next few days, tiny blisters may develop
which then crust over and fall off in seven to 10 days.
When do I come back if I need more treatment?
You should come back in six weeks intervals until your blood
vessels are sufficiently reduced or eliminated.
Are there alternatives to this treatment?
Laser treatment appears to work the best on facial veins with
the least chance of scarring. However, electric cautery is a
less expensive alternative and can also be used. |
