Contact
Dermatitis
Contact Dermatitis can be caused by almost anything that comes
into contact with the skin. Repeated exposure to a substance
that is normally not harmful to others, can, for some people,
cause inflammation. Nickel, rubber, dyes and poison ivy, poison
oak and related plants are fairly common allergens. With exposure
to these or other substances, the skin may blister, become crusty
and scaly. If untreated, it can darken, become leathery and
cracked. Contact dermatitis is treated by identifying the specific
allergen, (which may require patch testing), recommending substitute
products made of materials that do not cause reactions and reducing
the inflammation. If you have contact dermatitis, give us a
call. We can help!
