Laser Hair Removal
The majority of us deal with unwanted hair in at least one area of the body. Most American women and men shave, but many have also tried waxing, plucking, and depilatory creams to remove excess hair from areas such as the arms, legs, bikini area, face, chest, and back. Removing unwanted hair is not just tedious – it can be painful, messy, and expensive, with short-lived results. Laser hair removal in San Diego and Riverside Counties at Dermatology Specialists can permanently reduce unwanted hair, leaving you with the silky smooth skin that other methods fail to deliver.
About Laser Hair Removal
For residents of Temecula, Fallbrook, Solana Beach, Escondido and Oceanside, laser hair removal makes a lot of sense. The sunny weather and active lifestyle mean more time spent in bathing suits, shorts, and sleeveless shirts, thus more time managing unwanted hair. At Dermatology Specialists, Inc., a series of 4 to 6 laser hair removal treatments can result in the permanent reduction of hair in the treated area, to the point that other hair removal methods become unnecessary. The treatments are comfortable, quick, and can be performed on patients of varying skin and hair colorations.

How It Works
We perform laser hair removal at our Southern California offices using GentleLASE® laser technology. This laser releases rapid pulses of energy that penetrate the skin, targeting hair follicles that are in the active growth phase. This system uses the patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD™) to maximize patient safety and comfort. The laser's energy is absorbed only by the hair follicle, which is destroyed by the heat of the laser.
Only follicles in the active growth phase are affected, and only a percentage of follicles are in a growth phase at any one time. Thus a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart is usually recommended to achieve optimal hair reduction. The length of each session will vary depending on the size of the area to be treated, and can range from 10 to 60 minutes. Laser hair removal treatments are typically performed by one of our Registered Nurses or Physician Assistants under the supervision of a dermatologist.
